Waves of Hope

A fundraising party for the children of Sri Lanka’s south coast who were affected by the Tsunami.

Thanks to lots of energy and enthusiasm from all those involved, a wonderful night was had by all 280 or so people who made it down to the harbour-side venue on a chilly Wednesday night.

Special thanks must go to Chas Wilkinson from the University of Wales Institute of Languages for all the help in organizing the party and getting so many students to attend. Also massive thanks to Bert from SELC and Bill Beare from APC for their invaluable help and promotion of the night at their colleges.

Also a massive shout to all the Dj’s and musicians who gave their time and talent for the cause of raising money for the kids4kids charity (check kids4kids for details of their projects or view record of our donation).

The night started with some nice laidback grooves from DJ Nick Field, and soon the place was getting packed. Bill Beare’s own unique brand of acoustic blues rock was an experience in itself from 8.30 to 9.30. It gave the night the feeling of being a real musical event, and kept the crows engrossed.

Then came the popular prize draw which saw many partygoers get happy with free CD’s, tickets for day trips and discount packs thanks to Elefant Traks records, Colourful Trips and DOScards.

After this things started to really heat up on the dance floor with Samba Frog bashing their drums and cowbells like their was no tomorrow, which indeed may have been the case for those who had overindulged at the bar by the end of the night!

By the time DJ Sulo and MC’s Bezerkatron and Ozi Batla took to the stage at 10 the place was truly pumping. Minor technical problems aside their freestyle rapping was lapped up by the crowd, and the spontaneous breakdancing in the audience only added to the joyous atmosphere.

The night was topped off with DJ’s Taz and Brennan kicking it for the last 2 hours until shut down at 1am. All in all the atmosphere was happy, friendly and everybody there knew that they had done something wonderful for a good cause.

To everyone who attended: GIVE YOURSELVES A ROUND OF APLAUSE!!!!!
